The Guayusa Leaf

The Guayusa Leaf

Guayusa has been part of Amazonian culture and cultivation for over 2000 years. 98% of the guayusa in the world is found in the northern part of the Ecuadorian Amazong jungle, close to the Andes mountains. Guayusa is a herb and it gives energy because of its unique composition. The caffeine content varies per leaf, but generally it contains 3%. It’s a leaf brewed like tea, but it is actually not related to green or black tea. When brewed, it contains as much caffeine as coffee and it is also incredibly rich in polyphenols, which are the most common compounds that comprise what we call antioxidants. It also contains a ton of chlorogenic acids, which is good for weight loss and benefits to the heart. Furthermore it has theobromine, which causes a higher body activity, and l-theanine, which gives a higher mental alertness. Unlike coffee or other energy drinks, guayusa provides balanced energy without the jitters or the sudden crash commonly associated with caffeinated drinks.
