1. First things first: enjoy the journey

Here’s a heads up: you’ll bump into lots of competitors with fancy looking bikes and expensive ‘tri suits.’ Don’t let these people put you off. Enjoy every step of the way. Each practice and every mile. You’re doing your very first triathlon and nothing can stop you.

2. Stay cool

For many, swimming is the toughest discipline. Plan ahead: practice in the pool and in open water. Don’t worry about pace, get comfortable in the water first. Don’t forget to sight every couple of strokes to stay on track. Take it easy in the beginning. Find your own pace and remember this is your race.

Pre-race nerves are normal. When your kit is already prepared before race day, you’ll worry less. Make a list in advance, there’s a lot of stuff to bring with you so write all items down. Check each item off your list as you pack it. First item on the list: Nightwatch! Our main ingredient, guayusa, provides a gradual release of energy to the body. Therefore, it lasts longer. Have fun!
